What is it?
A community fund that provides no-strings-attached grants for artists and programmers working with or interested in working with hydra video synth. Each award is for the amount of $200 USD.
What is hydra?
Hydra is a live code-able video synth and coding environment that runs directly in the browser. It is free and open-source and made for beginners and experts alike. For more information, see the hydra web editor.
What can the grant be used for?
The grant is intended to help support community-oriented projects involving hydra, especially those that reduce barriers to getting started with live coding and open-source software in art. Examples include support for:
- writing a tutorial, documentation, fanzine, video
- organizing a workshop, event, or study group
- developing an add-on, extension, or library
- (other things that we have not yet imagined !)
The grant is not intended for personal artistic projects such as producing an artwork, performance, or album. For inspiration, see the database of community projects.
Who can apply?
Artists and programmers working with or interested in working with hydra video synth (as well as live coding, video art, open-source technology) are welcome to submit an application. Prior experience with coding or specifically with hydra is not necessary.
How is it funded?
The grant is funded by donations to the hydra open collective. The more funds we receive, the more awards we are able to offer. Please support if you are able!
